Big Bucks Need the Right Transport: Check Out the Game Sled!
By ZZ Troutski
In the hunter’s mind that one big buck takes precedence over anything else. The facts are true. Many hunters will allow several deer to pass them by, as they hold out for that ultimate rack that belongs to the master of all he surveys.
However, there is a reason for that ultimate rack. This is the creature who is a true survivor; he’s outsmarted, outlasted and outwitted every hunter in order to achieve his size, which means bringing him down will not be an easy task.
An old saying is that instead of that trophy being a notch in your belt, without the proper equipment and smarts you will most likely end up being just another notch in his antlers. So to begin at the beginning, remember that buck has an amazing sense of smell. In order to bag that trophy you must have the perfect product that will neutralize your human scent.
The avid hunter will also understand that a great deal of ground will have to be covered. The master of the forest travels a lot deeper into the woods than a younger buck; over time, he has learned that the thickest cover offers him safety. Even when a herd seems to be congregating at a certain location, it is important to remember that the trophy buck is a loner. He heads away from the others, not towards them; and he will like the low-lying areas that you may not even think about. He will do everything within him to make sure that the area he roams is extremely hard to navigate.
At the end of the pre-rut is the best time to use your rattling horns because the buck is far more aggressive and will likely want to fight. By making loud, irregular rattling noises, a buck will want to come forward. Just remember, he can see movement, he can sense the smell, so make sure you are an expert at the process
Listening is also a key for the hunter to be successful. The doe makes a grunting noise and can be duplicated at the end of the pre-rut. A doe grunt is soft and higher than a buck grunt, so using just a few soft grunts every 15 minutes or so will peak the buck’s interest.
The hardest part is the fact that when a great many hunters are in the area it will be absolutely impossible to get him. Again, the trophy buck grew his huge rack because of the amount of years he’s been able to survive. He knows when the coast is clear of hunters, so always stay in you stand and make sure your location is not near the hunting crowd, so to speak. If it is, the smells and movements will make the buck stay in hiding no matter what rattle or grunt you attempt.
One of the most desired deer is referred to as the Monarch of the Mountain. This Red Stag is considered the most beautiful antlered animal ever created, and mature bucks will own racks of 12 or more points.
So say that dream comes true. The mighty buck falls and you bask in the adrenaline rush. Then, of course, reality sets in. After all, a buck weighing 400 pounds must now be transported out of the woods. This is the animal that you went deep into the forest to get; so grabbing onto one of those prized antlers and simply pulling, is not going to work.
Game Sled has become the one and only piece of gear that hunters desperately want to have for a very good reason. Weighing six pounds, the Game Sled is the ultimate gurney, and will allow the now ecstatic hunter to haul the master of the forest out of the woods.
The innovative Game Sled design prevents obstacles from getting in the way, and the hair on the majestic deer will not be rubbed bare to the hide during transport. Add in the fact that the Game Sled was made so the habitat would receive no damage from transporting the deer – and the hunt of a lifetime becomes even sweeter!
