Fourtrack Talks the Tom Bomb

Fourtrack Talks the Tom Bomb

by Capt. Ted Lund

Hunting outfitter Chris Fourtrack spends about 80 days a year guiding clients for bear, moose, elk, mule and whitetail deer as well three different species of turkey in the Pacific Northwest. A majority of his clients are serious archers, and for them, he recommends one arrowhead manufacturer: Flying Arrow Archery.

Fourtrack Outfitters“I’ve been using them for about a year and a half and these are the most legit broadheads on the market,” says Fourtrack, who also documents and shares his hunts on and

For him, there’s no other broadhead on the market that combines the accuracy, simplicity and lethality that Flying Arrow has achieved with Toxic.

“For me, it keeps coming back to the bear that I shot with Toxic last season,” says Fourtrack. “It was a 40 yard shot, the arrow blew through both shoulders and the bear walked about 40 yards, sat down and was done.”

Fourtrack attributes this to the unprecedented five inches of exposed killing area that creates

massive wounds that can’t be sealed or clotted over. The result is a fast-killing, humane arrowhead that translates into less lost game.

“It’s the difference between three slices as with a traditional broadhead or a massive wound and carnage that will cause the animal to bleed out, leaving a clear blood trail,” says Fourtrack. “Looking back at elk and some of the other animals we would occasionally lose, that just doesn’t happen anymore.”

When other outdoorsmen are asking Fourtrack about his preference, he likes to show them examples of how the company’s “Meat Worm” technology works.

“When people see what it does and how quickly an animal goes down, they want to try it,” says Fourtrack.

One of his favorite demonstrations involves a .45-cal. Model 1911, a Toxic Broadhead, 70-lb. bow and a 55-gallon steel drum.

“The Toxic will go right through the steel drum, and the proof is in the exit wound,” says Fourtrack. “It leaves a bigger exit wound than the Model 1911. It’s impressive.”

Getting ready for Spring gobbler season in Washington State, Fourtrack is looking forward to using both Toxic and Tom Bomb heads.

“The challenge with turkey — they have such a small area of vital organs,” says Fourtrack. “With Toxic, you have an arrowhead that is going to rip and chew its way through, leaving a path of carnage that’s going to kill the bird even if the shot is a little off.

“With the Tom Bomb, its a totally different deal. You hit them in the head from 5 yards and it takes it clean off… quick, efficient and instantly lethal. It has 2.5-inches of cutting diameter; the Tom Bomb is devastating.”

More Stories & Fun Things to Do

There are millions of spots to visit and sites to see around the world when it comes to vacation time; however, there are also those you can’t necessarily “see.” In this world of digital technology and highly imaginative architecture that creates buildings that are higher and more “glitzy” than ever before, it is important to remember that in ancient times, people were building “down.” Various civilizations created locations underground, while others actually got buried by Mother Nature and simply forgotten about. Let’s begin internationally…

Buying & Selling: Learning the Art of the Tag Sale

When people speak about making a few extra bucks, there is more than one way to skin a cat these days. Perhaps you’re trying to save up for a vacation for the family to take this summer. Perhaps you are looking for collectibles to invest in. Oddly enough, many people do not realize what, exactly, was in Great Grandma’s house when she passed on to a happier place. There are even those who will put her things on a table, mark them twenty-five cents, and declare them to be old knickknacks (AKA: things you need to dust every five seconds.) Trouble is, a lot of those knickknacks can actually be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Heck, there have even been things found at tag sales that have been resold in the millions. No. Not kidding. Are the chances immense that you’ll find such a buy? No. But, there have been those that have proven this particular once-in-a-lifetime-event can happen.
