Helm Master a Fully Integrated Control System

Helm Master a Fully Integrated Control System

By Ted Lund

As marine outboard companies have moved to larger and larger power plants, boat builders have followed the trend. It’s now possible to build a boat as big as 47 feet with outboard power. But along with that growth has come some trepidation on the part of boaters, uncomfortable with handling larger boats with multiple outboards. But thanks to Yamaha’s Helm Master, those worries are a thing of the past — keeping boater safety and boat control of prime importance.

Helm Master is a fully-integrated boat control system, engineered by Yamaha — one of the world’s leading outboard motor manufacturers — to be pilot-centric. What this means is every aspect of operation, whether trying to hold over a wreck or catch bait off a buoy or dock in tight, cramped quarters is made easier thanks [not sure this makes sense with “thanks”?  missing a word?  “thanks to its…”], fluid movement and pivoting at the touch of Helm Master’s innovative joystick.

The joystick seamlessly integrates steering, throttle and shift functions, as well as outboard propulsion and direction.

Helm Master puts the captain at the center of the action, placing the central access of your vessel near the helm, rather than at the transom. Just guide the joystick in the direction you want to go and your boat will follow.

Helm Master’s real-time response based on your input automatically adjusts the thrust and direction of independently-articulating outboard, eliminating the  “bumping” and “jockeying” that can sometimes be  associated with dual, triple and quad outboard installations. This full range of motion independently positions each outboard to coordinate thrust direction and intensity. Regardless of whether it’s enacting forward and reverse propulsion simultaneously, positioning port, center, and starboard engines at different angles, different gears, and RPMs.

Helm Master is available with twin installations of In-Line F200 outboards, as well as twin, triple and quad configurations for Yamaha’s 4.2L V6 Offshore, V8 F350B, and F350C outboards*.

But Helm Master is more than just a joystick. The components require little dashboard space, leaving more room for todays larger, advanced marine electronics.

The fully-integrated system consists of Yamaha’s Helm Master Enhanced Binnacle Control, handling all of the major functions of operation and management. With the push of a button, boaters can control the speed, throttle or trim of all engines, or center engines (for triple and quad installations.)

The system also features Keyless Ignition and Y-COP® Theft Deterrence, thanks to up to four RFID Key Fobs, protecting your boat while you are away.

A digitally-rigged Helm Master steering wheel automatically adds friction while accelerating and reducing friction during deceleration, providing an enhanced steering feel for better control. This feature can be overridden to provide regular or high friction settings for different current situations.

The entire Helm Master system is ultimately customizable through the 5-inch HD LCD screen, which doubles as gauges for your engines. Set preferences, automate functions and choose your display style based on a palate of colors, digital and analog data and day/night backlighting.

Each system is custom configured for your vessel and backed by a Three Year Limited Warranty, assuring boaters that Helm Master lives up to Yamaha’s legendary reliability.

Finding Relaxation in the Most Remote Locations of All

It is a fact that the largest travel locations are also beyond popular. Among the downsides of this fact is that when you’re looking for peace, quiet, and basically a chance to do nothing more than spend time with yourself and, perhaps, one other best friend, the most popular places don’t offer that. In other words, it is the most remote (sometimes most beautiful) spots out there that you want to visit. If so, here are just a few that are there for the taking:

Add Value with Summer Home Renovation Projects

There are a whole list of summer activities for you and the kids planned. Most of them, of course, you want to be nothing but fun, such as grilling outside on the patio or swimming in the pool. However, having the backyard pool and patio are two things you really need in place before either of those activities could be enjoyed. And building this area could be a great summer project in order to not only get the house you really want, but add value to the home for a future sale.

Southern Belles Vie for Union Soldier’s Affections in Sofia Coppola’s Sublime Tale of Seduction

The Beguiled is a Civil War saga based on the best seller of the same name by the late novelist/playwright Thomas Cullinan (1919-1995). The sublime tale of seduction was first adapted to the screen in 1971 as a melodramatic revenge flick starring Clint Eastwood. This relatively-refined remake was directed by Sofia Coppola whose effort was richly rewarded at Cannes where she became only the second woman to win Best Director in the history of the festival.
