Life’s Better on Horseback

by Carmen Schwartz

This statement is true for many outdoor lovers and horse aficionados. You do not have to be a champion equestrian to simply love the views that are offered around the globe while sitting atop a horse.

Horseback riding, believe it or not, is even more popular than trains, planes and automobiles. Of course, this doesn’t come as a great surprise, considering the rider gets the full 360-degree view that Mother Nature has to offer.

But it’s not just the country roads or the mountain terrain of Colorado where the horse becomes the best choice for enjoying the bc-tsylos-centerbeauty of the outdoors. There are actually remote locations that many are not aware of; places that offer the mind and eye Technicolor landscapes you’ll never forget. Riding through volcanic lands, or across smooth, crystal fields of ice – there is nothing you can’t experience when sitting in the saddle.

Ireland is a choice that pops up frequently when it comes to the most beautiful land this world has to offer. And when you add to that the myths, legends, and extremely fun hospitality of the Irish people, the horseback rider gets a full buffet of perfection on their vacation.

Truly dramatic land is what Ireland is all about. The statues and artifacts left behind by people we still do not fully understand; stories of magical lands and fairies that you could ride right through and perhaps come across a world that’s only been read about in books.

But if the magical and mystical doesn’t grab you, there are spots in the world where you can ride your horse through strange, warm countryside. From crocodiles to zebras, the most amazing wildlife can be found while taking a horseback safari in the unforgettable realm of Africa.

And if the heat of Arica is simply too much, the clear, crystal sheen of Iceland is one place where nature lovers become enthralled by the small horses that Icelanders use as their means of transportation. Referred to as Viking horses, they are one species you most definitely want to see.

If gong for the ‘American’ ride, there are a ton of horseback riding locales to choose from. From Yellowstone to Bryce Canyon in Utah – the horse lover can see the majestic views of the mountains, ride through a protected area filled with everything from whitetail to the wolf, and learn about American history.

And, let’s face it, every adult has the child inside that is still begging to be a cowboy. Riding through lands where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid once roamed is beyond awesome, and the cowboy (or girl) needs that perfect horse in order to ‘escape the lawman.’

When it comes to riding that horse down the sandy beach, there are a ton of those to choose from, as well. But one of the favorites among vacationers is the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Why is that, you ask? Because it’s not just white, sandy beaches. You’ll be able to saunter through rain forests, as well as a land of volcanoes; you will witness stunning wildlife, as well as Costa Rican plantations and farms that dot the landscape.

For Canadian travelers, there is Banff National Park in Alberta. The timberland is dense, the mountains soar high, and the rivers and lakes make for stunning memories.

In the end, however, no matter what location you choose, it is the freedom of horseback riding that makes everything so much sweeter.

Vacation Locations: Knowledge is Fun Too!

Most children (and adults, too) will either roll their eyes or sigh when, while speaking about vacation locations, the word “learning” just happens to be mentioned. Yes, it is a fact that school trips take all of us during our younger years to everything from museums to libraries to historic locations in order to teach us things we should know. But when thinking about your vacation, you should know that by considering journeying to a particular place that just happens to register high on the historical or educational meter, you could have even more fun.

Is Social Media Still Growing?

It was in 1999, Bill Gates wrote a book titled, “Business @ the Speed of Thought.” Within these pages, the man who became the computer world’s wizard made massively bold predictions that, at the time, sounded ridiculous and outrageous to those who read them. But when you look at how the social media realm has grown over the past few decades, it is important to take note that not only did his predictions from 1999 come true, but they are also responsible for seeing social media continue to grow by leaps and bounds to this day.
