Water Skiing Going to the Dogs

Water Skiing Going to the Dogs

Boating and water skiing have officially gone to the dogs, thanks to a Chicago-based pooch that has a love for both.

Duma, Water Skiing

Duma, the nine-year-old Jack Russell terrier, got her love of  boats and the water from her owner, Cliff Bode. Her obsession will be highlighted on Extreme Edition: America’s Got Talent, June 16th at 8pm.

So how does a dog learn to drive boats and water ski?

When she was a puppy, she’d go on boat rides on Lake Michigan with Bode.

“I let her drive a couple of times, and eventually she decided that was the place for her,” says Bode. “Now, even if somebody else is driving, she’ll try to take over.”

Bode says that water skiing actually was a secondary boating activity for her.

“She got so much attention for driving, we started thinking what else could she do on the water?” says Bode. “She stands there with a really good grip.”

In addition to her television appearance, Duma has a busy schedule attending boat shows around North America, where she struts her stuff, and has appeared in multiple publications, including a recent issue of National Geographic for Kids.

But the seafaring pooch isn’t just an innovator in the sports field; Duma also shows off her environmental prowess byduma low res 462m employing the help of green outboard power in the form of Torqeedo electric motors.

Torqeedo is the world leader in electric marine propulsion solutions from 1 to 80 hp. Torqeedo’s engines deliver the best overall efficiency in their class, converting battery power into propulsion better than other drive systems — rewarding boaters with longer, more powerful performance.

Duma’s outboard of choice is the Torqeedo Cruise 4.0. The motor — the equivalent of an 8-hp gasoline-powered outboard – has been improved to meet the demanding challenges of everyday commercial use; making it ready to take on the harshest environmental conditions. The Cruise 4.0 is capable of powering dinghies and sailboats up to 4 tons. The company also has a number of solar charging options.

Where to Vacation? Go Big or Stay Home!

We speak about luxury vacations, budget vacations, vacations that are fun for the kids, and many more areas of travel at this time of year. But there is also a category that many do not touch upon because they “assume” it is far too difficult for those on a budget to be able to enjoy these jaw-dropping wonders. However, whether you are a backpacker looking to “become a journeyman” and all you need is the price of the plane ticket; or one that is saving up for that “ultimate trip,” these are locations where either can go to create memories that will be among the greatest and grandest of their entire lives.

How Are Retail Sales in 2017?

Despite consumer uncertainty, as well as a very sluggish beginning to 2017, the U.S. retail sales industry is projected to increase 4% this year. Headlines show that many retailers and companies posted “soft” holiday sales to end 2016, which caused some notable retailers to either cut jobs or close stores as a result. However, when it comes to 2017, the National Retail Federation (NFR) released an economic forecast projecting the retail industry (this excludes automobiles, gas stations, and restaurants) to grow and reach that 4% increase aim.
